@kpis_canada: Canada’s Immigration Minister, Lena Metlege Diab, has responded to the ongoing protests by international graduates in Alberta over Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) refusals. During a press conference today, Minister Diab addressed concerns that some graduates believe recent policy changes are behind the refusals. Her key message? ➡️ Canada has NOT changed PGWP eligibility requirements since November 2024. According to the Minister, programs that were not eligible for a PGWP before remain ineligible today. She said the recent refusals are not the result of a new federal policy change. Minister Diab also acknowledged the value international students bring to Canada, stating that they “add value to our Canadian economy.” She said the federal government continues to work with provinces, which are responsible for education, to address broader challenges affecting the international student system.
