Water is one of the movaluable and essential resources on Earth. Every living organism, from the smallest plant to the largest animal, depends on water in order to survive. Human civilisation itself was built around rivers, lakes, and seas because people have always understood the importance of water for life, farming, trade, and development. Without water, there would be no plants, no animals, no food, and no human life. Although many people today can easily access clean water by simply turning on a tap, millions of people around the world still struggle every day to find enough safe water to drink and use. Water is not only important for survival, but also for health, agriculture, industry, energy, transport, and the environment. Because of this, it is necessary for everyone to understand the importance of water and the need to protect it from pollution and waste. Water covers around seventy percent of the Earth’s surface. Oceans, rivers, lakes, glaciers, and underground sources all contain water that supports life across the planet. However, most of the Earth’s water is salty ocean water that humans cannot drink. Only a small percentage is freshwater, and even less is easily available for human use. This means that although water may seem endless, clean and safe freshwater is actually limited. As the world population continues to grow, the demand for water increases as well. More water is needed for homes, farms, factories, and cities. If people continue wasting and polluting water, future generations may face serious shortages. One of the most important uses of water is for drinking and maintaining human health. The human body is made up of around sixty percent water, and every organ in the body depends on it to function properly. Water helps regulate body temperature, carry nutrients, remove waste, and keep the body healthy. A person can survive for weeks without food, but only a few days without water. This clearly shows how essential water is for life. Clean drinking water is also necessary to prevent diseases. In places where water is dirty or contaminated, people can suffer from illnesses
