I am inclined to believe this; In cave days, most humans only lived to about 20 to 35 years old, as their diet relied on mammals; whereas modern humans consume both animals and plant-based foods and live for over 50 to 100 years old. Had we limited our diet from childhood to vegetables and seafood, we might well have lived to the age of 150 to 200 years old.

Yes we are supposed to but even without mentioning the Bible, it says Our Father limited our lives so that we couldn't live long enough to make things worse for any generations coming after them. Why should we get longer lives if we can't even live in the potential of 120 yrs? If you really can't come up with an answer without second thinking about that answer then that is why we live short enough lives.
