They use it because it has consistently been more accurate than polls. If the odds don’t match what can actually be expected, then it would result in people shifting their bets to take advantage of the price inefficiency. You are treating the odds like they are polling numbers but they aren’t, they are betting odds. The person that somebody bets on isn’t who they want to win, it’s who they think will win. Those two things are not the same thing. Kalshi does not effect the reliability of polls, the reliability of polls effects Kalshi.

Also important to look at the structure. They're selling contracts based on the outcome, not really a bet. So people can buy and sell them before the event happens. So people may buy a contract not because they think it will happen, but because they think other people will think it will happen, and then sell it before the event happens. It's all very complicated, mostly as a way to obfuscate how it's just gambling.

this looks like a self fulfilling prophecy, 1.kalshi makes A bet 2.ppl act assuming that those bets are real numbers based on reality and statistics 3.kalshi is proven right because the ppl assumed that the bet was written in stone so they didn't bother 4.cycle and repeat , a literal circle jerkoff
