@goatcult.media: In August 2023, San Diego Police Officer Anthony Hair was transporting a woman he had arrested when she reportedly told him she was “down to fk.**” Body camera footage shows Hair alone with the woman in the back of his patrol vehicle before he pulled onto a residential street and turned off both his body camera and the cruiser. Less than 30 minutes later, Hair radioed another officer asking for a master key, explaining that he had accidentally locked himself inside his own patrol car. The unusual sequence of events triggered an internal investigation into his conduct. The investigation ultimately concluded that Hair had violated department policy. He resigned from the San Diego Police Department about a month after the incident, before the disciplinary process was completed. Do you think officers should ever be allowed to disable their body cameras during an active detention?
