we’ve lost sense of community because proper etiquette is for everyone to bring something!

There will be people that hear you and think “$500-600 that’s cheap,” “$2500-3000 isn’t bad,” until they’re the ones hosting and no one else contributes

I’m from the south, we bring everything to the party and the host may order some pizza, wings, and rotel. Host never came out of pocket more than $150

You are correct. I prefer to do all the food myself and will say BYOB but I still have alcohol and signature cocktail for the theme.

I hosted a galentines party that my friends and I wanted to have. I offered my house BUT we agreed that it was OUR party but I’ll gladly organize it and set everything up but everyone had to pitch in. Bring a dish and byob and everyone pitched in for the flower bar and decorations. And I said someone had to stay to help me clean up and someone had to help me set up lol that’s only way I’ll host these days. Call it tacky idc, I call it community 😂

I miss parties but I was always the one hosting and yes it cost always at least $1,000 when you factor in everything, mfrs would be ungrateful, and fuck up your shit, I wouldn’t have fun cuz I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off, I stopped hosting a couple years ago.

Oh you must’ve been putting on a production! I used to throw an annual house party for my gday and would spend $200 max lol. It’d be a banger! I’d have a few bottles but everyone would just BYOB. So my only expense was food really.

The house parties they want back didn't have catered food and a DJ lol... They had pizza and a speaker... You lived a different life, lol.

You are doing it wrong. Especially if it's only 8 people. And people always bring something. Don't invite people that don't reciprocate. I do those and Bonfires all the time.
