As a Muslim, I understand where her opinion is coming from. It is difficult to agree with the many misogynistic stereotypes within our culture, which may lead her to question religion itself. I believe that when she truly reads the Quran for herself, she’ll definitely change her perspective toward religion itself not the culture, though.

No, as a revert, I am myself learning about the religion. A lot of things are indeed forbidden in islam. Like drinking alcohol for example, because it does wrong to your body, it can go as far as destroying your life. Basically some of the “demonic things” or culture she also described are man made. Our beloved prophet PBUH was kind to women, to people and animals. Honour killing has never been justified in the Quran.
