I think one of the biggest misunderstandings Christians have about Islam is what Muslims actually believe about Jesus. A lot of people genuinely assume that becoming Muslim means somehow turning your back on him. It doesn’t. As Muslims, we believe in Isa ibn Maryam. We believe he was the Messiah. We believe in his miraculous birth. We believe he performed incredible miracles by the permission of Allah. We believe in his mother Maryam and honour her as one of the greatest women to ever live. And we believe Jesus will return. These aren’t small details within Islam. You cannot be a Muslim and reject Jesus. He is part of our faith. Where we differ with Christianity is in perhaps the most important question of all. Who deserves our worship? As Muslims, we believe Jesus was an incredible messenger of God. But we don't believe he was God. We worship the One who created him. The One Jesus worshipped. The same God who sent Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad ﷺ. And when you begin looking beyond what you’ve been told about Islam and actually study what Muslims believe, you might find far more familiarity than you expected. Prayer. Modesty. Fasting. Charity. Submission to God. Honouring the prophets. Trying to live your life in obedience to your Creator rather than your desires. I’m not asking anybody to accept Islam because of a 60-second video. But if what you just heard surprised you... Then maybe that surprise is worth exploring. Read the Qur’an. Read what it actually says about Jesus and Mary. Ask Muslims what they genuinely believe rather than allowing somebody else to tell you. And sincerely ask God to guide you towards the truth. Because maybe Islam isn’t what you thought it was. And maybe Jesus has far more to do with Islam than you were ever told. If you want to learn more. Then DM me and I can point you in the right direction.
