My now husband & I were driving the highway from Phoenix to Vegas & were in an area that was pitch black empty desert with nothing at least 20-30 miles each way. I was driving—thank gawd because I’m the better driver—in my brand new Mustang back in early 2010. No other cars around for miles. Some huge dog looking creature was in the middle of the road. It wasn’t a coyote—I’m an AZ Native. It was bigger than a wolf even though there are no wolves in the area. In the dog world this thing was massive. I imagine if it stood up on its back legs it would be over 6’ tall. I didn’t have time to hit the brakes and just hit it, but I wasn’t about to stop because neither one of us knew what it was. Just before impact it looked right at us and its eyes were yellow, front paws were lifted just a little as if it was going to leap or stand up. Its face looked afraid & I’ll never forget it. It was a clean hit, I didn’t swerve or lose control at all but I was terrified that it would be pissed or have friends. I drove a several miles before seeing a sign for gas 20 miles ahead so I said we would stop there to check out the damage. I expected my entire front end to be smashed in but all we found was a giant leg sticking out of the lower grill. No blood and no other damage. No blood on the leg either. It didn’t look broken & it was removed at the joint. I pulled it out & the paw was almost as big as my husband’s hand & the leg was about 3.5-4 feet long. The fur was wiry and what I imagine an Irish wolfhound’s fur feeling like. The nails didn’t look like dog nails. They looked more like fungus infested pointy human nails. Like a yellowish brown tinged color and thick. I swear on everything we both believed it was a werewolf. I believe in all things supernatural & that all mythology is real. My husband does not believe any of it. Even he thinks it could’ve been a werewolf or an ‘undiscovered species’. I should check the date to see if it was a full moon. 28 days later exactly I was rear ended by a big truck at a stop light & broke my neck. If you’re reading this & it was your leg or family member I am really sorry! I didn’t have time to react without crashing.

it shape shifted into a pile of dead animal as camouflage. like playing opossum. Knowing he wouldn't touch it. Then ran off after he left. that's why it wasn't there when he got back.

he saw something he wasn't supposed to that why all he saw was rotting bones. I stumbled across what I thought was a very skinny coyote while walking my back woods here in PA. unintentionally followed it. but the last time I saw it I watched it drop went over to the same area and all I found was a paw. just a paw a lil rotted as I walked away I heard movement turned my head towards the noise saw a deer get up from the same spot mind you I was just there looking at that paw. I decided that was enough for that day and I went home never spoke of that day until now 7 years later

Unrelated Sidenote - Did you know that there is no such thing as a “Former” or “Ex” Marine; only A Marine? Through grueling training, saying ‘blood-sweat & tears’ doesn’t even begin to describe the intense, badass & lethally sharp blade they’ve been honed into. The USMC is SO hardcore, they ingrain into their members that once they have EARNED that prestigious title, it’s permanent. Even after active duty; Veterans are viewed simply as Marines in a different phase of life or uniform.

Here’s what it actually was. Two coyotes, possibly with mange, eating and maybe fighting over this piece of carcass that they found. The took off into the desert when they saw the headlights. The carcass may have appeared to fall if the dropped it, and that’s what he saw. When he returned, it was either to the wrong spot or the coyotes came back and dragged it away. The carcass was roadkill, possibly of a dog or other coyote.

omg...my story isn't really that scary in hindsight...but at the time I was TERRIFIED. I was driving my son to his bus stop that was in my mom's subdivision (he was only 5 so I had to stay at the stop until the bus came). Anyway, as I was driving I almost hit what I thought was some weird wild animal. This was in St. Charles MO, so $$$$ area & I had no clue what thing was nor where it could've come from. I screamed SO LOUD when it started chasing my car all the way to the pick up spot. I refused to get out of my car & I ended up calling 911...I told them it was like some rabid mini wolf or something. It....it was a whippet. I had never seen a dog like that in my life. It was an overly hyper whippet...I wanted to just disappear😆
