They cared too much about what other people would think if there was something wrong with their child….so they prioritized looking like a good parent over actually being one.

Diagnosed with OCD and ADHD at 29. I grieve little me being yelled at for being too sensitive when I was truly just struggling.

And yet, they’re thinking that we have huge obligation to take care of them as they’re getting older🤦🏻♀️

We were literally just pets. Clothes shelter food. Enough. I’m 32 and I’m probably going to be single and childless forever bc I’m the oldest and I’m tired. 😭

there are a whole generation of kids who didn’t know they have been diagnosed with autism/adhd/ocd and never knew bc parents hid it and never treated us for it

They could have learned but refused out of denial, pride, or just resentment towards parental duty. Some parents idealized having a family but never truly planned on raising kids.

I tried to tell them for years that I needed glasses, they said I was being dramatic and because Harry Potter had glasses I wanted glasses… I’ve had glasses for two years now , I can ACTUALLY see every little thing now and my headaches are GONE

my learning disability wasnt recognized as an actual learning disability till the year i was born. so there quite literally was a lack of research. alot of reconized learning disabilities weren't recognized outside of being "slow" or "retardism"(not sure what the exact wording was used from the bored of education.) till the 1990s. even now more and more research comes out about how these things make you tick.

Facts. I’m realizing now that I have a child, my parents paid ZERO attention to me. They were too wrapped up in their relationships and friends. I hardly seen them when I was young fr.

I have so much resentment not just for my parents but my grandparents, aunts etc. NONE of y'all could see I needed help and I needed to be taken from that house? On the flip side I've been channeling that resentment into fuel for my workouts so if you think it can't get any better it can. Even if it's a little step, you can heal.
