let’s not forget, while she was actively trying to get into treatment AGAIN, the night of the tragedy, SHE had to figure out dinner, while going through a mental health crisis. SHE had to tell her husband which medicine to get their daughter at CVS because he didn’t know. SHE told him that she had thoughts of hurting their kids and he left her alone with them!!!!! I don’t care if it’s a hot take, I think the husband is partially culpable.

And why are we expecting someone in active pp psychosis to be able to properly advocate for themselves? She was able to get herself to a doctor and tell her husband she was hearing voices. I don’t care that she later told them she was fine or lied to them. If psychosis was already on their radar, they are absolutely at fault for not taking it serious enough. I was never diagnosed with post partum psychosis, but I had several instances where I could vividly see things happening, like someone snatching my child and running off, to the point that I absolutely thought it was real and took off running after them. The entire time my baby was in her bassinet beside me. I only had to tell my husband once before he and my MIL to have me in my doctor’s office. All of this while living in a country where mental health education/advocacy is so much further behind than the US.

A lot of people have very VERY limited understanding of mental illnesses too. Especially psychosis . They don’t know the difference between depression and psychosis yet are trying to claim it’s the same which is just so frustrating

I’m so glad she’s suing the healthcare providers. I watched most of the testimony today and I grew up the town over from Duxbury. The DA should also be EMBARRASSED. Showing the jury the clothing the kids were wearing. Like what’s the point??

As a mother who experienced those horrible thoughts in ppd on zoloft and told EVERYONE that the thoughts were getting so bad. I was still constantly left alone with them, responsible for everything and one day the thoughts & everything became too much.... I called my adopted father and said come now and I had to leave them alone & walk out. I know i could have been her 20 years ago...

That man failed to protect his children and should be charged with child endangerment. He abandoned her and left his children in immediate risk of serious harm and that's why they're dead. She did everything she had the power to do, she begged for help. And fwiw, she absolutely met criteria for inpatient treatment, whoever told her she wasn't did not do their job, that's medical neglect.
