Ok my son is five and two months, and this sounds just like him. I can’t decide if maybe it’s cool that he’s mature and ahead, or if it’s terrifying. But holy cow the tantrums and the mean words and the anger over being embarrassed!

My lord 6 has been ROUGH. Everything you mentioned makes total sense. We’re also dealing with negative self talk. The outbursts of losing a game or other things is unreal. When disciplined it’s always the “you hate me” “you don’t love me” “I’m stupid” which are hard to hear because we’ve never said or even alluded to ever!

My 6 yr old is extremely sensitive to even the slightest criticism. I can hardly tell her if her shoes are on the wrong feet without a meltdown.

My daughter turned 6 in June. I’d say we noticed this stuff at about 5 1/2. I’m like who are you and what have you done with my daughter lol. I also have a 3 year old boy so we are all just fighting for our lives lol.

I’m so glad I came across this video. A switch flipped in my son about 6 months ago (6.5 now) and I feel like I’m loosing my sweet boy. Everything is a fight, heaven forbid his sister wins at candyland, he argues and tells me no about everything, and tries to lie. I’m feeling really sad about it. Glad it’s developmentally appropriate, I was super worried about him!

Not understanding no matter how many different ways you attempt, that their actions have consequences, and IT'S THEIR choice to make those bad decisions that lead to the consequence. Can you please cover this? We have been trying so hard to get our 6yr old to understand
