High I’m an EMT and I drive ambulances and fire trucks, legally the school bus stop sign is the highest law of the land. I am not allowed to go past a school bus with its stop sign out no matter what.

It's the emergency vehicles. They have to treat it as an intersection, thus slow down and confirm they are safe to proceed, but they are otherwise free to ignore all standard traffic laws.

Hi I’m an EMT!! Bus has right of way and we will NEVER pass if the stop sign is out!! Normally we kill the lights and sirens so we don’t freak out any kids or risk anyone getting hurt!! 🩷

Bus driver should put the stop sign down and close doors to let ambulance pass. Could have pullee over and waited for the ambulance to pass and then put the signs out too

idk why yall are so shocked that emergency vehicles have to stop for the bus too?? the bus has the ability to pull in its stop sign if there's no kids crossing. if an ambulance speeds past and hits a fucking kid you now have 2 dying patients instead of 1???? not a difficult concept.

It definitely SHOULD be the emergency vehicle, but we all know that’s probably not going to ever happen . And I get it it’s kids , but soemone shouldn’t have to wait in suffering because the ambulance needs to stop for however long it takes for them to get off the bus and across the street or to their homes . By that time the caller could be dead

The emergency services must stop but if the bus driver was a decent human they'd hold the kids at the door and take the sign down to allow emergency services to go.
