My children are reusing theirs. Idgaf anymore. And I’m not buying a whole new wardrobe. They will wear the clothes I bought at the beginning of spring. They are getting new shoes and supplies.

I have a Jansport that I bought at a Mervyn's almost 18 yrs ago right before they closed. My 4th grade daughter still uses it to this day! 👌

People are missing the point. Nobody said you can’t buy your kids a new backpack every year. If you can afford it and that’s what you choose to do, cool. But acting like washing a perfectly good backpack and reusing shoes means you’re struggling is exactly the mentality that keeps people spending money just to keep up appearances ! Teaching kids to take care of their things, reuse what still fits, and not throw away perfectly good items is not being cheap it’s being financially responsible.

i never would’ve expected these comments to be so heated lol, you can literally feel the snarkyness and superiority complex flying off the comments of those bragging about new bags every year. unless it’s torn or too dirty to be cleaned i don’t see the point. get them a solid colored one from a good brand and call it a day, it’ll last years and they won’t be bullied for it. at least when i was in school no kid gave a shit about another kid’s backpack lmao
