Heat rises and dust particles a long with other spores like mold and mildew are lite. The heat rising pushes anything out the box that would otherwise settle on your inoculation jar and syringe. It also doubles as to sterilize and burn anything that floats into the flame. Also note the flame is an alcohol burner. This is important because alcohol burns clean. You do not leave charred residue like if you were charred something with a lighter. This flame is used to sterilize the needle before it enters the inoculation jar to keep out any foreign contaminants that may otherwise contaminate your jar with Trichoderma.
