My sister u speak my mind. I came across a book where Harold Dappa-biriye was lamenting why the British intentionally refused to create a separate region for the ijaw people after Amalgamation of the south and north to form NG. In the book, he said the British saw the ijaw's as independent minded people. The British themselves called the ijaw people as aggressive and rebellious. So given them a separate region might trigger independence in that region. U know throughout the trade era, it was the ijaw's that stood as middlemen between the British and the rest of the blacks in this part of the world. The ijaw's fixed raw material prices and received the goods from the blacks and sold them to the white men. There was a time the European major trading company called the Royal Niger company was using its navy to regulate prices of palm oil, slaves and other raw materials, denying the ijaw people from trading independently as Merchants (middleman). The British wanted to trade directly with the peppl and not through the ijaw peppl again. But the ijaw people resisted. This unfair trade pattern was the reason why King Koko of Nembe Arrested 40 white men and kpai them all. The British accused Koko of eating them , they pleaded with koko to return the remains of the 40 bodies. But only about 6 remains that was handover to the British. So the British went and reinforced from Gold Coast, present day Ghana, took enough naval force and commit the famous Akassa Raid. The ijaw's keeps resisting the British whenever they brought an unfair trade tactics. In 1900, the Royal Niger company was tired and fade up. So they decided to turn the trade company to indirect rule. And the company was sold and officially handover to the queen of England. Southern P. was created in 1900. Fast forward to 1914, the north and south was Amalgamated to formed Nigeria. Northern, Eastern and western regions was created. No region was created for the ijaw people whose was the merchant and the main character during the Atlantic trade. Reason was simple, the British dealt with the ijaw people through past wounds, grievances and conflicts. They saw the Izon people as independent minded people.

It will not be easy but it is achievable. We have one thing (unity) every Ijaw man in each of these states agree that "He's Ijaw" that's a great step already. I believe if we look beyond states and embrace the mindset of "Ijaw first", then it can be achieved.

The same thing they did to we Igbos, they divided and calved our people into different states just to make us smaller in size and limit our voting power. But in the north they have one North, same with the South west. But down here they divided us to cause confusion. I think is time people start identifying with their people, by so doing that's the only way we can start uniting with our people.
