Day 18 We woke up to a beautiful day at EBC and after breakfast did some ice climbing with the ice axe and walking across a short ladder as practice for crossing crevasses. The media have reported that the khumbu ice fall opened today but ladders are not fixed only ropes (despite what has been reported) and right now only one professional climber has gone up alongside sherpas. We’re still waiting to hear what the situation is but we’re told it’s not safe to go so we have to hold tight (with all the other teams). Our dining tent is small and i’d say about 80% of our team has a cold or cough. That’s a big worry as i’m currently fine no cold or cough. Mildly breathless due to the altitude though. So i headed off with Dhanu to find less cough infested places. We spent the afternoon at 8k Expeditions in their large dome tent “cafe” where we were warmly welcomed by the owner, and i met a deaf chap called Michael Woods from Liverpool and we did a joint interview together apparently for the BBC. I don’t want to stay at EBC longer than i need as most of the team are coughing and my O2 levels are low too, so plan is to drop 1000m To Dingboche. Weight: 67.45kg Fat: 14.0% Muscle: 81.7% Visceral fat: 2.3 Resting heart rate: 73 Nerve health: 88 SpO2: 72% Altitude: 5276m Sleep last night: 9 hrs 01 min ECG: normal
