Golfer's & Tennis Elbow Solutions 🎾⛳ When it comes to solving elbow pain, one thing you may not have seen yet is radial and ulnar deviations. Your forearm has two bones: the radius and the ulna. When you move your wrist toward your thumb, that's radial deviation. When you move it toward your pinky, that's ulnar deviation. Why does this matter? Because many of the muscles responsible for these movements attach around the same bony landmarks involved in tennis elbow (lateral/outside) and golfer's elbow (medial/inside). And one of the biggest reasons these problems occur is because the tendons are exposed to more load than they're currently prepared for. So strengthening these muscles is essential for fixing these problems. Personally, I find ulnar deviation especially valuable because almost nobody trains it... and in my experience, golfer's elbow is always trickier than tennis elbow. And as an aside…. I've even found that hammering ulnar deviations has helped improve my snapping triceps syndrome. (Really great discovery!!!) Now seeing Alyssa do these with a kettlebell also made me realize just how accessible they are. You literally don’t need any fancy equipment at all. Just grab a light-to-medium kettlebell by the horns with both hands and start cranking out the reps. 👉 With your arms in front of you, pulling the kettlebell toward your thumbs emphasizes radial deviation, loading muscles commonly involved in tennis elbow. 👉 With your arms behind you, lifting your pinkies emphasizes ulnar deviation, targeting muscles commonly involved in golfer's elbow. Spend about 2 minutes, moving continuously and crushing as many reps as you can. Your forearms will be absolutely blasted!!! Now while it may not 100% solve the problem immediately, I can confidently say that hammering these movements delivers an exceptionally high return when it comes to moving the needle on these problems. Building strength in these often-overlooked movements can go a long way toward improving your elbow capacity and making these nagging issues much less likely to keep coming back.
