My mother constantly bullied me about my weight but also maintained a policy of "eat everything on your plate regardless of hunger cues". And then when I was able to finally drop 100lbs and become a healthy weight she accused me of being too skinny. WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME WOMAN?! 😭

not an attack to the op just commenting generally but I hate that we gave this behavior the cutesy 'almond mom' name. it feels like other people use that to dismiss and laugh it off, like no this is insanely concerning. this is eating disorder behavior you should be worried for your mothers

Someone I worked with, male of course, told me my large green salad, I’m talking lettuce spinach cucumber snow peas and some corn was too much food for one person for entire day. He said he’d never eat that much ever. Wasn’t even any carbs and I was still fat shamed for eating lettuce! You can’t win!

My mum obsessed with my weight when I was pregnant with my 1st. Telling me to keep exercising so I didn’t get fatter. I’d been diagnosed with placenta previa and was on pelvic rest. She was a midwife. But her constant fear of me looking fat or being fat made her lose her own medical logic

my mom told me to eat more veggies. I started eating more corn and peas. she told me they weren't good veggies. I started eating carrots too, but apparently they arent good either. at this point im convinced if you arent eating a grey miserable nutrient sludge for 3 meals a day, youre apparently doing it wrong

It was not the only reason, but in my top three reasons for breaking up with my former best friend is that she did this to her teen daughter for eating three eggs at breakfast. I get mad again every time I crack a third egg.

I remember being reprimanded for telling my mother to “fuck off” at 12 for telling me I should get my stomach stapled. I think even regarding language it was an appropriate response to this day and have said the same to many others after this
