Islamic banking cannot work in Ghana because it works on TRUST and the sharing of PROFIT AND LOSS. When you borrow money, for example 20,000 cedis, you are not given a determined interest to pay, you only pay interest when you make a profit on the 20,000 cedis borrowed and where you make losses, it is shared between the borrower and the financial institution. Clearly, the society we find ourselves in can not work with these principles. Every borrower will say the made losses on the amount borrowed. Our society is made up of people who are always ready to cheat and steal. Every borrower will complain that they made losses, therefore defeating the purpose of Islamic banking.
