I loved I, Claudius. The miniseries is really good but the book is fantastic. I’m not sure if you’ve ever read one of the “OG” retellings but one of my favorite books in that genre is Grendel by John Gardner. I know it’s not Ancient Rome or Greek mythology but I found it eye opening when I first read it in high school and it’s quite deep when it comes to reconsidering your initial perceptions.

Watched I, Claudius on Masterpiece Theater, PBS in my early teens. Don’t remember it that well, but do remember liking it. There was a competition scene that I won’t spoil for you that definitely left an impression…

Ann Carson has a new translation of Antigone coming out next week which I will read immediately. Emily Wilson has a book called Crossing the Wine Dark Sea about translating ancient texts that I have on hold and Tom Hiddleston who read classics at Cambridge has a TV show about Pompeii coming out soon that I will def be watching as well.
