@davinambaynes: Replying to @harlembrowneyez all love!!!!! but there is a difference in animals & laws and even moreso when it comes to military housing! #militaryhousing #bannedbreed #dogdnatest #bullterrier #militaryfamily
Research the heck out of JBLM and surrounding areas. You may want to venture out a little farther then the immediate area

Just for the sake of clarity, there is also no official registry for ESAs. A physician or APP writes a prescription or letter of medical necessity for an ESA, but there’s no “having them registered”, those are scam websites. Breed restrictions also are only going to apply to specific types of military housing, for civilians breed is protected under the federal housing act and landlords should technically not be asking breed at all, nor able to discriminate.

Thank you for stating the facts! I do know how important ESA'S are but until they are recognized the same way a Service Animals is, people need to follow the laws. Military bases and housing is federal land, they have to abide by different laws and governance.

I work in property management and I know there’s a banned breed list put forth (for us it’s put out by insurance companies) so long as it pertains to their housing we have been taught that an animal being legally registered as an ESA trumps the restricted breed list. Now obviously that doesn’t make him a service dog as you mentioned but definitely worth looking into to see if the ESA certification could trump the breed list.

I love that your doing this so responsibly in a community that seldom does! it protects all pets rights when the rules are followed even when the circumstances are difficult

That's crazy that their discretion trumps a federal law. Sure even ESA has be non aggressive but, as long as he is, that law should apply. He should be allowed into all housing.

I am not too sure of your background, but I suffered from PTSD and was able to get my dog certified as a psychiatric service animal. He did go through some training for it so there was that but he may already know some of the tools.
