I am a nurse in the NICU and I really hate it when family tries to do my job. This is whether they are nurses or not. They might know how to turn the noises off, but don’t know what medications I am running, what the alarms are for, and if you don’t work in the NICU, odds are you don’t know our parameters. The same goes for L & D.

my mother is a nurse and still checked with the nursing staff at the hospital I was in to make sure it was ok that she assist with hoisting me to the bathroom and back. Wouldnt the staff be the first in trouble if she made any mistakes?

Nothing frustrates me more than when nurse family members try to get in there when they have zero experience in my specialty. Nurses should have shut it down and I'm kinda shocked that L&D Nurses didnt bc my understanding is that they're pretty protective.
