If a native speaker fails to remember even basic numerals, they risk being perceived as uneducated. While a non-native speaker might be cut some slack—with people thinking, "They probably haven't learned that yet" or "It's a difficult thing to memorize"—a native speaker who is unfamiliar with such terms is viewed as embarrassing.
