@teacherincomeproject2: didn’t start creating digital products because I wanted another hobby. I started because I wanted choices. After 30 years in the classroom, I realized I had spent decades helping everyone else build their future while I still didn’t have the freedom to leave on my own terms. So I stopped waiting. I took the skills I already had as a teacher and started creating resources that could help other educators while building something for my own family. No overnight success. No magic formula. Just one product at a time. If you’re a teacher wondering if you’re “too old” or “too late” to start something new… You’re not. Sometimes the career that gave you everything is also the one that teaches you what you’re capable of building next. ❤️. #GenXTeachers #TeacherLife #TeacherSideHustle #teachersoftiktok

I did 36.5 years, and had to leave my DRIP six months early. I literally hated to go to work anymore. I used to love it for so long, it’s just such a shame now. 😞

My first year, someone told me to start saving for retirement in a 401k. Each year I put in the max amount I could afford. At the end of 31 years, realizing I could not do it anymore, I had more than enough to retire.

Yup. I have to go to age 65, or lose a good chunk of my pension. Thankfully I still have a Roth IRA for outside help. I’ve started making/selling my stuff off tpt as well.

That’s awful. I delivered Domino’s Pizza for 15 years and I was able to retire off of my savings.

That’s terrible because after 30 years of teaching, I happily retired and don’t have a car roll in all of my bills I paid for with my pension

So smart! I’ll be teaching 38 years. 13 more seems so unattainable with the current workload, but it’s the reality.
