My 13 year old has had a full blown existential crisis over AI. These kids have been told tech and programming are the future. He took his first programming class at 6 years old. Now we’re being told AI is going to be doing all that. He’s truly lost and questioning what the point of anything is.

AI is way too under developed to be practical or usable on the scale that they sell it. AI still needs constant human supervision because it'sstill too buggy. The technology to power it is costly both financially and environmentally. I think they should have waited 10 years to roll it out as a consumer product.

This is what socialist/communism would do (e.g. China has done): first they enlarge the power grid, then they train workers to do other jobs and lay off zero people, then they force competition between companies so there isn’t ever a monopoly. None of it is offloaded onto the consumer like it ALL is in America.

Young people love AI. All my coworkers that are in college use AI for the papers and homework and so do their friends. They don’t pay for it but they love it.

You can try to replace a truck driver but instead, it would have been better to train that driver to be a pilot and be paid more. The costs are only going to accumulate more.
