Details 👇 This is: 📍 Viewpoint Zaboj Tucked away above Lake Skadar, the hike to Viewpoint Zaboj starts near the tiny hillside village of Komarno — and somehow still feels like a hidden gem. While most travelers head straight for Montenegro’s coastline, this region is quieter, wilder, and just as breathtaking. Lake Skadar is the largest lake in the Balkans, shared with Albania, known for its winding river bends, lily-covered waters, and dramatic mountain scenery. It’s even a protected national park… but places like this viewpoint are still almost empty. We did this hike as a family and didn’t see a single other person. The trail itself is well marked and easy to follow, mostly shaded through the forest. We carried both kids, but older ones could definitely walk it. There are a couple of slightly tricky sections (a narrow ledge + some light rock scrambling), but overall it’s very doable if you take your time. A few tips if you go: – Most people start from the nearby village of Komarno, but we actually started from the roadside where we found a small place to park. – You can also park in the village and walk to the trailhead (roads are narrow and limited parking) – Bring bug spray + plenty of water – Wear good shoes for the rocky sections And then… you reach the top 🤯 One of the most unreal views over Lake Skadar. This is exactly why we love going beyond the typical tourist spots. 📝Save this for your Montenegro itinerary 🇲🇪 ✨Follow for more hidden gems + real family travel tips 💬Comment “HIKING GUIDE” and we’ll send you the exact starting point + trail details, plus our top 5 family-friendly hikes with everything you need to know 🥾✨
