They set a deadline, which means it has already failed before it even began. On top of that, this won't reach like 80% of the player base because they don't watch gaming news, they just come home from work/school play an hour or two with their subscriptions and then do something else. I'm baffled these boycott strategies never learn from prior mistakes.

I don't know why everyone is so angry, the amount of plastic which is used to make discs and the cases is quite high, so cutting back on plastic production seems more sustainable in my opinion

Yea this isn’t going to do anything if they really wanted to make a statement they would 100% boycott GTA6 and it wouldn’t be longer than 1 week and even then it still wouldn’t make a difference to Sony

I don't think it will help, the gaming industry is in a strange place now where companies aren't interested in catering to their original consumer base. See Nvidia selling all their shit to AI data centres, driving up the price of everything. I think the ps5 will be the last playstation I own since getting the PS1 and I won't be getting GTA 6 if it's not physical which will be the first GTA I don't play since the original top down back in the day. I know it won't stop playstation doing their b.s, but I'm just not excited to own these things anymore when all I'm doing is funding a company that is actively working against me.

Unfortunately the majority are quiet casuals that dont pay attention and will keep playing/buying. These small boycotts dont scare them at all. I don't think Ive seen any online boycott actually hurt a company? Like properly, not just a small stock drop that rebounds a day later

Any boycott with a predetermined end date will accomplish nothing. You want anything to change you stop using PlayStation NOW and until they reverse course, even if they never do.

totally agree. why that random week and not when a major game releases? or why do it at all when only the politicians and their rules are gonna be the only thing to force them to work things out. and how can you convince politicians when some of them think video games are bad or irrelevant in society. and what's to gain from this stunt? is it because of physical media disappearing? everything having to be online/ digital? like what's this stunt supposed to do to get them to fix everything?
