U must have shown signs of periodontal disease before they placed the ortho on you. Either that or the orthodontist attempted to move your teeth at too fast a rate and caused severe damage/bone loss. I work in the dental field and sadly there’s ALOT of orthodontists that will place braces or provide aligners to pts who really shouldn’t be candidates.

It says how he had ‘bleeding gums, gum recession, loose teeth, and bad breath’ - and that he had severe periodontal disease (genetic?) and bone loss. Not necessarily because of invisalign., but getting orthodontic treatment is a big deal and can definitely exacerbate underlying issues. You need to be VERY thorough when cleaning your teeth during treatment, as it can trap bacteria

How often were you cleaning the retainer and how were you cleaning it? It’s likely that the retainer was acting like a Petri dish and harboring a lot of bad bacteria and allowing them to breed

I had braces as a teen and as an adult. I also had double jaw surgery. I’ve spent a lot of time and money and have been through so much pain during all of it. I’m now losing my teeth 😩😳

he actually had periodontal disease. it didn’t have anything to do w the retainer. he just doesn’t floss/brush consistently

this happened to me when i got retainers in fourth grade, by fifth grade i started having gaps between my teeth, by sophomere year of high school all my teeth were moving, by senior year i lost my three front teeth completely as well as the bone supporting them.

Yall don’t panick to much if you don’t have other dental related issues happening you should be okay. I gone through Invisalign twice and braces twice now have a retainer that I wear only at night my teeth are fine and in good standings
