😔 Truly; Children do not see color. This was the pivotal era of my childhood. As a Nigerian child; 4 years old, 5, 6, 7…. I was them…. I loved them all. Adored them so much. Watched this Classic over and over and over, wished I could have been one of them. Then I grew up and learned about Racism and my whole existence, the understanding of my world literally collapsed. I can’t even begin to explain how much or how deeply that HURT. To learn about slavery destroyed me. I cried for months. Crazy. I have tears brimming in my eyes right now because I didn’t realize over 30 years later that this is still a trauma I still carry. Wow. In a way I guess I envy white people mostly because they don’t know what it feels like to absolutely be taught the world they live in is beautiful and wonderful but the best parts are only reserved for other people who are “superior” to them because they, Caucasians are considered less human. I’m glad that it is slowly changing...🙂 I’ve been Unlearning and Relearning; to be PROUD OF MY AFRICAN BLACKNESS and to still appreciate great classics like these and not even pay mind to any philosophy which makes me out to be lesser because of the melanin in my skin when I know I am as brilliant (and even more so than) the above average Caucasian human. It’s a constant process but I will forever be grateful to this film for inspiring me to become an actor.🖤🖤

I was a literally a baby When I first watched this … instantly my brain flashed back to the good old days of video cassette when we were still a big whole family sitting together in our living room and watching sound of music with all my brothers and sisters … I miss those days
