OpenClaw has more downloads than ever. Self-proclaimed AI influencers calling OpenClaw dead is just contrarianism, counter signaling. It's a sociological phenomenon and a popular (because easy to pull off) content strategy, especially with influencers. By taking a stand against what's popular, they want to signal that they have independent "superior" judgment. Those who like or align with a majority opinion or mainstream culture are seen as naive, and those who reject it position themselves as people who are "ahead of the curve" kinda. Their rejection - or calling things dead like they do with OpenClaw - is about status and not objective judgment.

Open claw isn’t dead. It’s because to actually run a business and run your agent, it costs money. And if you’re not prepared, you can go broke. I think a lot of people realized, getting paid users, and actually launching a business isn’t that easy. And can cost so much money. And so therefore, people backed off. That’s all. Claude code helps, but that too costs money, so real builders will figure it out, but it’s not dead.
