Michaela Dempsey :
When a job seeker applies to a LinkedIn post, they automatically get assigned to follow the company they are applying to. This incentivize the company to post fake jobs to boost followers. This is what needs to be corrected - then the fake jobs will stop.

Managers, sadly are right.. It does increase productivity. I remember 2 years ago, HR said I passed the first interview, and wanted me to come to the second one which would be just a formality because they were so impressed with my first interview. They showed me around the facility. All I could see was horror on the faces of the employees. The manager introduced me to several higher ups in different departments. I really thought I got the job. Then after the interview, no callback, no email - ghosted. I waited a couple of weeks, but still nothing. Then something told me to see if the job was filled on linked in, and it wasn't. I put two and two together, and realized the position wasn't real... I was used to scare the employees into working harder, and give them the illusion they were going to be replaced. That's when I decided to only apply directly to a companies website. I let AI do the bulk of the work by finding the actual jobs, direct links, and write ATS-friendly resumes and cover letters.

LinkedIn is a scam. It’s brag board for wealthy people who have good jobs.

They have no incentive to not allow fake postings. No postings, equals zero engagement.

LinkedIn is roughly $45 a month for a premium membership that’s insane considering it should probably be more like $2.99. They also charge companies that use their recruiting platform $40-$50,000 monthly. It’s crazy.

I was job searching last year. There would be 8 different job posting with slightly different titles, with 1 being from a major company, and the other 7 being from recruiting firms on BEHALF of the major company, but hiding the name, all 8 posts for the same ONE position. And I saw this multiple times.

Ken Paxton? Then I'm sure this is a bogus lawsuit that's politically motivated and has zero legitimacy. LinkedIn probably didn't donate enough to Republicans.

This is absolutely happening, and it’s more common than people realize. I recently had a recruiter from a Fortune 500 company tell me directly that, although a role was posted, there wasn’t an immediate opening. His goal was to build and pre-vet a strong bench of candidates so that when a requisition did open, he already had people ready to go. That may be efficient for the company, but from the candidate’s perspective, the job posting creates the impression that there is a real position available right now. That’s the problem. Building a talent pipeline is one thing. Advertising an active opportunity that doesn’t actually exist is something else.

How has looking for a role turned into a money making scam. It’s terrible and shocking. And when those people who did that genuinely want to find a role, I hope they never have to go through this! I’ve stopped applying on LinkedIn.
