@astoldbyindie: It’s almost like there is not logical reason for teenage girls and young women to settle down and y’all are trying to make it work #stayathomemom #youngmom #newlywed #sahw #sahm
Why are extreme age gaps becoming normalized again 😭

Sadly boys get to be kids until they are 18/19 then they start to learn basic things to live; while girls are expected to start learning this stuff and growing up once they hit puberty. This creates horrible learning curves on both sides.

At 18 a child would have been safer in prison than my care

I had my first child when I was 34, and I had been around infants and children all my life, and I STILL had so much to learn! Expecting children to raise children is how you end up with adults with mental health issues. 😑 Thank you for highlighting the gender disparity!

The same for a woman. Women are not inherently maternal nor more stable at that age either.

the Internet has shown me that a lot of people should not be parents. they just push their life choices on others because they can't imagine life differently.

The reason I’ve never believed the maternal instinct argument is because we have foster care systems, children being put up for adoption, child abuse by both mothers and fathers, and children with severe behavioural problems who end up in the prison system.
If parenting were mostly driven by a natural maternal instinct, and people could raise children primarily by instinct rather than learning, we wouldn’t see these outcomes so often. That’s why I think the argument is weak. Instinct may help in some situations, but its role is very limited. Raising children is largely a learned behaviour, not something people automatically know how to do.

Young boys who have a child early speak about it with the same love I do when I pick a nail color and it doesn’t come out as I expected. People believe that girls are just supposed to take on all this and enjoy it, and sadly the girls pushing for others to do it aren’t developed enough yet to realize they’re being used a pawn to push an agenda that was made long before them, their mothers, or grandmothers. Older men take advantage of the angst we all feel of being young and unsure and force many young girls to think it’ll be alleviated in playing maid and babysitter for them; it won’t and you can tell when they get defensive that it never has.

Our course they know girls do, but it doesn’t fit the agenda.

I am a way better mom at 29 than I would’ve been at 19. Even if you think you personally would be fulfilled being a mom that young and forgoing so much life experience, don’t your kids deserve a mom who is as mature and regulated and stable as possible?

not only do they think motherhood should come "naturally", they actively discourage people from making efforts to be good mothers. my cousin had her daughter 3 years ago, she started learning a lot about child development, psychology and all that. when i tell you all the older women in her life are shaming her for it with their full chest, it's genuinely awful to listen to
