Equally I can’t fathom the concept of heaven and just living forever with no goals or anything

If people didn’t believe in hell we would see biblical levels of destruction

This kind of argument is poor, a lot of people can’t comprehend an end, that we’d die and your life is over. Yet that line of thinking dose not mean religion is true. Not being able to understand or comprehend a concept or idea dose not mean that it dosent exist

I’ve always thought about this. If one really thought hell was real they would live their lives very differently than most Muslims do today

My muslim friends have had the same sadness for my eventuality too, I let them know that I’ll just have to get on with it if I’m proven wrong 😭 i’ll make my atheist bed, and lay in Jahannam 😭

I think the reason it works tremendously well is because the idea of hell is imprinted on people when they are children which is probably the exact developmental window where threat detection from the brain is being formed similar to how phobias form, 2nd of all its also unfalsifiable which makes it worse

I will never understand how religious people will turn around and judge their parents or family members who loved and cared for them all their life just because some book tells them too.

Mate it’s literally a Islamic opinion that hell is temporary ( even Muslim can end up in ) and that eventually everyone ends up in heaven. Stop going of fundamentalist opinions

also this is genuinely super a basic surface level question from him and video from me. But deconstruction always starts from somewhere. Usually u think of this when ur 15 or something 😭

The dilemma you’re presenting is a false one. There’s a fourth option which is that our understanding on earth is limited. We can’t fully grasp how we could be happy if loved ones are in hell because we don’t see reality as God does. In heaven, the beatific vision perfects our understanding. We see God directly and understand His justice and goodness completely. Nothing is erased, and no one is brainwashed we simply see the truth fully. That’s why there is no sorrow in heaven.

I am a Muslim and I really struggle with the idea that we will be in heaven for ETERNITY. Like I just want to rest. I don’t want to live anywhere for Eternity.🥹

i think there’s a loop hole in islam where we can request family to occupy heaven with us. Which is crazy because how is that fair to the rules ?🥴

He kinda is deconstructing lowkey. Or almost starting. The way he makes his videos about religion shows he’s almost starting that journey.

it's always been interesting to me that what we learn abt hell is so focused in physical pain and the body, which really finalized the idea to me that we invented it based on the bodies we have right now and what type of pain we've already known or experienced. when we're dead and no longer have a body, how does it make sense that hell "burns" people, a sensation you can only experience because of the neural wiring of a human body? same with heaven, in many teachings (at least the ones i've heard growing up) it revolves around food and wine and sex , and other things you can only experience with a human body. that mode of thinking is what helped me get over this primal 'fear of hell' that people still experience even after deconstructing just because of how psychologically ingrained it is in our minds as you mentioned, and it's the same philosophy I used on the entirety of religion, not js the concepts of heaven and hell. why did islamic philosophies revolve around deserts and camels for example? why did nations with unstable weather & climate have gods that are 'angry' and use weather as punishment? because that was the environment they knew. the more you think about it, the more you conclude that religion only exists within concepts we've known before it, because as a species, we're genuinely incapable of visualising or interpreting an experience we've never known, or imagining life outside of the human form. all these supposedly divine concepts are just repackagings of the same pleasures and pain and sadness and love and life we ALREADY know and experience. heaven and hell are real, because we've lived them and known them and experienced them ON EARTH.
