This is exactly what happened to me. When my husband died suddenly, I couldn't have felt more devastated - yet, I just couldn't cry. I needed to, and I certainly wanted to, but I hurt so much I felt if I started crying, I'd never be able to stop, or be able to cope with what I had to face.
