Small claims court, BBB, Google review and show me where your contract says not refund or where it says the deposits is for Save the Date and that it is not refundable- she doesn't sound like a good wedding planner. You should hire yourself a Virgo as a wedding planner - you will have great communication and they pay amazing attention to detail!

As an assistant wedding planner, check with the venue. They may have a list of preferred vendors. This is insane. I would cut ties with her and just tell her you’re going to go after her in small claims court

OK so… I know a little bit about this. I know I’m a golden retriever talking about this, but I swear I know. If she has document proof that she had other inquiries, then you may be forced to pay the money. Also, if in the contract, the retainer is to reserve the date, you also may be screwed, but, a judge still may rule in your favor, depending on the wording. Do you have a contract?

Also, your bank will not reverse the Zelle for any reason. Had a client who accidentally sent my money to a random phone number so I know that. Also, being a year out is a reasonable enough time for her to rebook. She’s gaslighting you as she says otherwise.
