This is a lie. At a high cya level chlorine is less effective and more chlorine is required. You should probably look this stuff up. A high cya level can also give a low alkalinity reading.

that contradicts itself. you say that only the 3% that's active is affected by the high pH. but when that 3% is used, it is replaced by the chlorine that was bound to the cyanuric acid. so that would mean that released chlorine is now weakened by the high pH... no?
