This triggers the same response I felt in 2001 when Andrea Yates killed her children. Initially I was enraged and just couldn’t process how a mother could do that but after having my son in 2007, I had to seek treatment to manage my postpartum depression after experiencing a placenta abruption that lead to an emergency hysterectomy and my son being in the NICU for 59 days. When I hear about it now, I am much more empathetic to women who experience this level of psychosis because mine could have easily transformed into that as well. My heart is completely broken for all of them. 💔

Watching my sister in law suffer from post partum psychosis was the scariest thing ive experienced and i think people have the wrong idea about it. She would be perfectly fine at lunch time and then you’d have to call the cops on her at 1am. The only good thing that can come out of this is maybe women’s post partum care will be taken more seriously. This is beyond heartbreaking for all of them

He failed her and his children no sympathy for him. No way a normal man would leave their kids with someone having suicidal thoughts and thoughts of killing HIS children.

The worst part is that she tried to get help for herself. Several times. Nobody actually helped her. It’s horrific and brutal but this wasn’t all on her. Her doctors are equally at fault.

I heard someone else say he had different shoes from the cvs to the take out place …. Where can I watch this trial ? I can see from your post(s) that you believe him sympathise for him & chalked it up to her having postpartum, do you believe she did this ?

This is so sad. I’m a licensed therapist who specializes in perinatal mood disorders and have treated patients with PPP. It is very real. A key feature of PPP is that the psychotic symptoms tend to wax and wane throughout the day with moments of lucidity. This can happen with all forms of psychosis but PPP is somewhat unique in its clinical presentation and the etiology of it is unique compared to other forms of psychosis including schizophrenia spectrum related and Bipolar I mania with psychotic features. It’s not as rare as people think, 1-2 in 1000 women. Su!c!de rate of 5%, !nfant!c!de 4%.
