@lilianam763: Nina Krieger (left) was the French-Jewish daughter of Laja (née Hirsch) and an unknown father. She was born in Nancy on the 13th of December 1936. Her sisters Odette and Georgette (right) were born in 1931 and 1935. Her mother was a Polish Jew from Nubejow. On the 20th of July 1942, Laja was deported to Auschwitz from Angers on convoy 8. The whereabouts of the girls at her arrest isn't specified but most likely they were at school at the time. The children were put in a Jewish home watched by the UGIF (the General Union of Israelites of France). There were several UGIF centers and the children were sent to the Lamarck-Secrétan center. On the night of the 21st-22nd of July 1944, the centres were raided. Aloïs Brunner, commander of the Drancy camp, ordered the roundup of the centers housing Jewish children, in retaliation to the attempted assassination against Hitler on the 20th of July 1944. In this roundup, 8 children's homes were raided. Residents and staff were imprisoned. That night, more than 350 children were arrested. On the 31st of July 1944, the children were deported to Auschwitz from Drancy by convoy 77. This was the last major convoy in France. They were murdered on the 3rd of August 1944. Nina (7), Odette (12) and Georgette (9) Remember Nina Krieger and her family. May their memories be a blessing✡#fyp #sad #neverforget #History
