he was a bridge between the old guard of irish music from the dubliners right up to the newer generations today. Used to work on grafton st and I saw him stop and give a busker 100 quid on grafton st who was playing his songs, he then had a lil chat with him too. Saw him do the christmas busking too and the atmosphere was really special. irish music just lost a Titan. Rip ❤️

I look at that and it was less than 24 hours ago. He was so in the moment loving the music. Then, bam, he’s gone. No one one there singing with him enjoying the specialness of the occasion knew what was ahead. Makes you think you need to grab life by both hands because it could be gone in a flash. From Newfoundland, Canada, I want to let family, friends and fans of Glen Hansard know what he meant to us a few thousand miles away. Every Friday night after my mom died, we went to my Dad's home to play videos on YouTube and drink a Guinness or two. We found Glen Hansard and friends doing a concert at the Royal Albert Hall. From then on, their rendition of "The Auld Triangle" became what we called "our closer" song. Yesterday, when I told my dad the sad news about Glen, he hugged me as if we had lost an old friend. Indeed, we had. I grieve for the loss of a generous, laid-back performer who had many more songs to sing and write. My condolences to all.

I feel for all the musicians that were around him that night, and everyone else. What devastating shock they must have got to wake up the next morning to hear the news that the person that they were with merely hours ago was gone forever

When I was about 18, I was terrified of public speaking, but I loved playing music. Glen inspired me to take my guitar downtown and play through the nerves. I got better at it. I still suck at public speaking though a decade later. Thank you Glen, you mean very much to me sir
