I didn’t leave Islam because of culture or “bad Muslims,” and I’m not speaking on people, I’m speaking on the texts themselves. As an ex Muslim, I reached a point where I could no longer ignore what the Quran and Hadith say about women, no matter how much it’s softened, reframed, or explained away. This isn’t about hate, it’s about honesty, and about asking why a system rooted in sharia law would require me to accept less in order to belong.
