Imagine if western colonization didnt happen to us, we will appreciate our brown skin, flat nose and big eyes more without having a fear of not fitting in the society beauty standards

I wish I could see and experience our country in another timeline, one where we were never colonized, where our culture remained untouched and deeply rooted through the years. I can only imagine how beautiful the Philippines would be today, and what kind of lives we would be living. 🥹🇵🇭

To think igorots are constantly ostracized by ignorant and discriminative people, is it a crime to uphold your culture and its traditions?😞

Pre colonial had no concept of virginity because it simply didn’t mean anything to them, they can divorce their spouses, and women weren’t seen as inferior. They were already civilized, had their own trading systems, learned other languages to communicate with foreign traders specifically Indonesia, China, India, and Malaysia. And gold weren’t just for the rich, lower class also wear them as a symbol of protection against bad spirits. And for people saying Spain brought the words of God, no, they didn’t came for that main purpose. It was for the gold, glory for their country, and expanding their territory for businesses.

This is what I see every time I go to catholic church and I always notice how it doesn’t aligned with our real culture. And it makes me want to cry everytime. It hurts me how our faith in nature and community was taken away from us and it shows until now.
