Your request is too broad. “Write a marketing plan” leaves hundreds of decisions unanswered. Tell ChatGPT what you sell, who you sell it to, your goal, your budget, your timeline, and what type of plan you need. 2. You skipped the context. ChatGPT does not know what happened before this conversation, what your team already tried, what your customers care about, or why this task matters. Give it the background information a smart new employee would need. 3. You never defined what good looks like. Words such as better, professional, compelling, detailed, and engaging mean different things to different people. Describe the result you want. Include examples, success criteria, length, format, audience, and anything the response must avoid. 4. You asked for the final answer too soon. For complex work, ask ChatGPT to analyze the problem, identify missing information, challenge your assumptions, and propose an approach before producing the final answer. 5. You accepted the first response. Treat the first answer as a draft. Ask ChatGPT to critique its own work, identify weak sections, compare the response against your goal, and rewrite it. Use this prompt when ChatGPT is not giving you the results you want: “You are helping me with [task]. My goal is [specific outcome]. Here is the relevant context: [background information]. The audience is [audience]. The response must include [requirements] and avoid [constraints]. Before answering, identify any missing information and ask up to three useful questions.
