On of my coworkers passed away recently. She had been fighting cancer for the previous 3-4 years. Had gone into remission and it came back and was terminal. Anyway, after she passed away the CEO sent a company wide email talking about how they’ll miss her. And then went into detail and praised himself about how they got her a laptop and portable monitors so she could work in her hospital bed up until the day that she died. By the end of the day they sent out a clarification email that she needed the insurance so she “wanted” to work. Like…? Neither email makes this company look good. You could have just sent out an email telling us she passed away and that we’re sending her family prayers or some shit idk.

I would ignore my employer completely and focus fully on the birth of my child , phone off , computer at home , then if I was chastised for it after the fact I would seek legal advice
