It barely even surprises @marinafaeri and I. It’s funny how quickly things that once felt so different become completely ordinary. Living in another country slowly rewires what feels “normal.” One day you’re doing double takes over the smallest things, and before you know it, they’re just part of everyday life. For me, it’s ordering a burger and seeing beer on the combo menu. Almost no one knows this, but the first McDonald's to sell beer was in Portugal; it was one of the requirements for franchises.

From what I know, In the US you need to have a different/special license for alcoholic beverages and it’s not cheap, while in Portugal there is no such thing. As far as I know, if it’s a restaurant, cafe, snack bar, etc, it’s enough to allow alcoholic beverages.

i dont drink often now , maibe once a mounth or so but in portugal is ard to avoid it ,the wine is good and cheap ,most of the festas from were i come from ,we eat and drink for free ,barbequed sardines , with bread and huge barrils of whine in the streets all free , i was partying all the time , 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Colombo has so many good options that I rarely opt for fast food. ☺️The Chinese over there is very good. Usually I go for Sushi, a salad in Vitaminas, Chinese... For Portuguese try H3

In France I saw to dames having lunch with their Big Mac and a beer; somehow they made it so sophisticated. Like how do the French make beer and Big Macs elevated but they managed it.
