Hi! I am a nurse from Sweden and I have been working with patients with dementia and I have a tip for when it’s hard in the conversations. Begin to sing a song he loves or like in this video when he say ” yeah yeah” you can sing ” She loves you yeah yeah yeah”. Try it when it’s overwhelming- I hope it can help a bit! my nana was horrible with dementia and didn't want us near her and told us to f*ck off when we went to visit was horrible....I feel ur pain but just gotta remember the person they were before dementia took them away 💜

my nan had dementia I helped care for her for 18 months before she went in a home. it was hard. sometimes funny but very rewarding... she would have been horrified at some of the stuff she used to come out with. ots the most heartbreaking disease x

what is the best way to deal with it when a person with dementia is making inappropriate comments/ being rude ? I presume our natural instinct is to correct them like we would a child, does that work in the moment and is forgotten a few minutes later or are you effectively wasting your time they are unable to comprehend what's going on?
