"Finger detangling" can be so misleading. Most people go for a make your fingers the comb's teeth approach when it's more like playing a string instrument once you get into the flow of it.

This is how I detangle my daughters hair with my fingers. She has really long hair, and a looser curl, but they get wrapped around one another so much, I need patience and love!
