Ask if they have any clauses for post termination. Sometimes agencies will still take commission for brands they pitched you to even after you stop working with them for X number of months. I’ve seen anywhere from 3-6 mo 😅 Also if most of your brand deals are coming through organically and not pitched, might be worth considering to hire internally!

As someone who worked both sides of brand and talent management. the 20% fee is the modeling agency standard, 20% commission flat is the starboard for talent/creator fee. They are blending both and you should be looking for US agency that will agree to 20% flat with your deals

On the other side— keep access to your collabs email. Don’t just put theirs in your bio! Trust me you want to maintain those relationships yourself and then start recognizing names if people in the industry move to different brands! Don’t recommend giving % of shopmy or ltk affiliate to management unless they are actually building those links…

35% is insane. 15-20% is standard. I would ask what brands they have immediate contacts with. Also what is their percentage of outbound deals… bc you want them to hustle for you.

Girl 35% is insane. Even 30% is insane! The average is 20%. Nooooo amount of “included perks” with an agency is worth 35% of your money going to someone else

I do super well on ShopMy and my old agency was taking a portion of my ShopMy sales, never again! Make sure you clarify that when talking with management too. I just recently interviewed and switched to a better fit. Feel free to message me!

Commission rates, how often we’d meet to connect/strategize content, how they present me to brands, how often they pitch me for outbound campaigns outside of what was coming inbound, what data they’d use to maintain/adjust my rates, etc

Influencer marketing manager here. Your agency should take 20%. And they should charge the brands and extra 15% from their side. So only 20% should be taken from you. So they should be adding and extra 15% to your rate for that extra %

35% is INSANE WORK! Way too much!! Standard is 15-20% you ALWAYSSSS want access to your inbox you should be able to see everything and it should be very transparent. I would never go with an agency that did not allow that… Agents can make or break deals and communication is everything and you need to be aware of what they’re communicating with. The number one question I ask is what can you do for me that I can’t already do for myself and I’m gonna be honest with you as someone who gets all inbound. We never have to pitch… There’s not a whole lot an agent can really do other than manage my time and get a higher rate because the brands are finding me. We are not having to find them transparently… The other thing about an agency is they’re going to share any inbound with other creators as well which can be a plus or a minus and it depends on how much they like you and the “office politics” and that is where it can get dicey … I would also ask how many others they have on their roster at a time. Each agent manages so many people… And how can you ensure that the deal is going to get to you?💖💖

Ask for access to your inbox and don’t sign without that. I have all my emails go to my alias and forwarded to them.

35% is not normal at all oh my ! 20% standard! Make sure they let you view your inbound 💘 remember they will bust butt in a trial period and then kinda push you to a back burner…! Be aware of that! Be super picky, nothing wrong with that!!
