I completely understand being disappointed or hurt by how an adaptation of your work turned out, especially when it’s a world you created and care deeply about. But I genuinely don’t understand the decision to make vague, ominous posts about the film and your relationship with people involved right as the trailer is being released. If there’s something you want audiences to know, then say it clearly. Otherwise, leaving people to speculate this close to release risks overshadowing a project that so many other Black creatives worked incredibly hard on. This film means a lot to Black fantasy fans who rarely get to see stories like this given this scale and investment. You’re absolutely entitled to your feelings about the adaptation, but I wish those feelings were expressed in a way that didn’t potentially undermine everyone else’s work or the film before audiences have even had the chance to see it.
