@exposrapp: 76% of honey sold in US grocery stores would be illegal in Europe. A Food Safety News investigation tested honey from every major retailer and found that 76% had all pollen removed through ultra-filtration. Under EU law, ultra-filtered honey cannot legally be sold as honey — it has undergone a "substantial transformation in character." 100% of honey tested from CVS and Walgreens contained zero pollen. The EU defines honey strictly as a natural substance produced by bees — no sugar, no additives, no flavourings, no modification. The US has no legal standard of identity for honey. None. Without pollen, the geographic origin of honey is impossible to trace. That's the point. "Honey laundering" is one of the most profitable food fraud operations in the world — cheap Chinese honey, hit with anti-dumping duties, gets shipped through India, Vietnam, and other countries to bypass tariffs and enter the US undetected. The EU's own investigation found that 46% of imported honey was adulterated with rice syrup, wheat syrup, or sugar beet syrup. 74% of those suspicious shipments originated from China. Starting in 2026, every honey blend sold in Europe must list each country of origin and its percentage share on the front label. The US has no such requirement. Your bottle says honey. The lab says otherwise. The only way to know what you're eating is to buy local, raw, unfiltered — or scan it. Scanned on the Exposr app

Peridot :
As a beekeeper and honey seller I know that the word “raw” has no legal meaning in honey labeling. I still put it on my label because people look for it.
